RECREATIONAL PROGRAM

U-7

A clinic style, developmental program for players in Pre-K and Kindergarten.  The U7 program will consist of up to 6 clinics (TBD) (no games) on Sunday mornings from TBD (likely 9-10am). At this age, the goal is to have fun, while learning some basic, but fundamental, lacrosse skills.  We provide sticks at this age group, but players must provide their own eye goggles and mouthguards (with nothing protruding from the mouth, and not attached to the eye goggles). This age group wears t-shirts supplied by the program.

This program will start on TBD, weather and field-dependent.  We need at least 20 players registered and parent volunteers to run this program.

U-9
An intramural, developmental program for players in 1st and 2nd grades. Games are played 7 v. 7 on a shortened field. The standard field positions for this age are 2 players at deep defense, 2 players at deep attack, and in the midfield a left and right wing, and 1 center.  There is no goalie.  At this level, the emphasis is on learning lacrosse and having fun.  All U-9 teams will have 1 mid-week practice on Wednesdays from 4:15-5:30 pm, in addition to meeting on Sunday mornings from TBD (likely 10-11am).  On Sundays, we begin with practice and end with a game.  The games will be officiated by paid MHD High School Lax players. This age group wears t-shirts supplied by the program. Each player must provide her own eye goggles and mouthguard (with nothing protruding from the mouth, and not attached to the eye goggles).

The first practice will be held on TBD, weather and field-dependent. First game will be on TBD.

Our TRAVEL PROGRAM participates in The Founders Girls Lacrosse League (FGLL).

U-11
Marblehead 3rd and 4th grade teams travel to other towns for the first time and play 7 v 7 plus goalie. This age group plays 8 games (on Sundays) throughout the season, typically 4 home and 4 away.  The 7 v 7 format encourages the mastering of the game’s fundamentals while allowing for an age appropriate transition to the 12 v 12 format. The standard field positions for this age is to position 2 players at deep defense, 2 players at deep attack, and a left and right wing, and 1 center in the midfield. The goalie is optional, but most teams use a goalie. Coaches are permitted on the field but are prohibited from entering the 12 meter fan “area.” This age group wears a jersey supplied by the program (this is part of your registration fee).  Other uniform pieces (skort, socks) must be supplied by the player, in addition to eye goggles and mouthguard (with nothing protruding from the mouth, and not attached to the eye goggles).

This program starts up the first week of March. The 2021 game dates are: TBD.

SELECT PROGRAM

We have two Select teams, for U13 (Grades 5 & 6) and U15 (Grades 7 & 8).  The goal of our Select teams is to give players with a current higher skill level and commitment the chance to further improve their game. The Select program builds on what the girls learn in town practice, and instruction goes deeper into various areas of the game. A player’s practice attendance, effort, attitude, and leadership factor into decisions about playing time.

This program starts up the first week of March. The Select teams play 6 games, on Friday nights. The 2021 game dates are: TBD.
