U11
Marblehead U11 teams of 3rd and 4th graders compete in 8 (4 home, 4 away) Sunday games against area towns in a 7v7 game format. There are 2 practices a week. The 7v7 format on a shorter field encourages player understanding of space and positioning. U11 plays with goalies. Field players get more 'touches' or opportunities to scoop, catch, pass and shoot the ball. Players work on skills and fundamentals with modified rules which serve to provide an age-appropriate transition to the 12v12 game format. The standard field positions include two defense players, two attack players, three midfielders and a goalie. Players observe a midline restraining line. The uniform includes a reversible numbered top supplied by the program as part of the registration fee; returning players will use their uniform top from the previous year or can swap out for a larger size. Other uniform pieces (black skort) must be supplied by the player, in addition to a stick, goggles and mouthguard.
U13
For 5th and 6th grade girls, U13 teams compete in 8 (4 home, 4 away) Sunday games against area towns in a 12v12 format. There are 2 team practices a week. The age group plays full-field 12v12 games; standard field positions include four attack, four defensive, three midfield players and a goalie. The restraining line is at the 30/35 yard line. Modified checking is allowed at this level - a players stick may be checked if it is below her shoulder. The uniform includes a numbered jersey supplied by the program as part of the registration fee; returning players will use their uniform top from the previous year or can swap out for a larger size. Other uniform pieces (black skort) will be supplied by the player, in addition to a lacrosse stick, goggles and mouthguard.
